Cosmelan
The reference method for melasma and stubborn dark spots.
One of the most widely used depigmenting treatments in professional clinics. Here you will find its at-home phase: the products you apply yourself, which in practice are the ones that consolidate and maintain the result.
-
What you should know
- By mesoestetic, a Spanish professional skincare laboratory
- The at-home phase is what sustains the result
- Requires daily sun protection throughout the treatment
Which types of dark spots it works on
Not all dark spots are alike, nor do they respond at the same pace. These are the ones usually addressed with a complete depigmenting method.
Melasma
Symmetrical patches on the cheeks, forehead or upper lip, with a strong hormonal and sun-related component. This is the main indication.
Solar lentigines
Well-defined spots caused by sun exposure accumulated over the years.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
Marks left behind after an acne breakout, a wound or an irritation.
Uneven tone
A general lack of uniformity, with no single spot but with dull, uneven skin.
How the treatment unfolds
Cosmelan is not a standalone product, it is a phased method. Knowing which phase you are in is what stops you buying the wrong thing.
-
Day 1 · in clinic
Professional phase
The mask is applied in clinic by a professional, after assessing the type of pigmentation and the skin phototype.
-
Week 1 · several months
At-home phase
This is the part you will find on this page, and the one that weighs most on the final result. Without it, the work done in clinic fades away.

Afterwards · ongoing
Maintenance
Once the spot has been corrected, the goal changes: keeping it from coming back. Here, daily sun protection is what matters.
Cosmelan 2 o Cosmelan home pack
This is the most common question. The difference is whether you need only the continuity cream or the complete at-home programme.
Cosmelan home pack
Complete at-home programmeIt brings together the continuity cream and the products that accompany it day to day, so the whole routine pulls in the same direction.
- Includes cleansing, moisturising and sun protection
- The usual choice if you are starting from scratch

Cosmelan 2
Only the continuity creamThe at-home depigmenting cream. It is the one that sustains the result during the months following the professional phase.
- For those who already have the rest of their routine in place
- A refill when the jar runs out
Without sun protection, it does not work
This is the non-negotiable part. Radiation — including on cloudy days and the visible light from screens — reactivates melanin production and can undo months of work in a few weeks. An SPF 50 every morning, all year round, is not an add-on to the treatment: it is part of the treatment.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to see results?
Results on pigmentation are measured in months, not days. The at-home phase continues for several months and the change is gradual. Consistency matters more than intensity: applying it properly every day for months works better than starting hard and giving up.
Can I buy Cosmelan 2 without having done the professional phase?
Cosmelan 2 is designed as the continuation of the method. If you have not had the in-clinic phase, write to us before buying and we will assess whether it is what you need or whether another daily depigmenting product suits you better.
Can melasma be cured?
Melasma is a chronic condition that is managed rather than cured. The visible patch can be greatly reduced, but it tends to return if sun protection is abandoned or with hormonal changes. That is why the maintenance phase is not optional.
Can it be used in summer?
The treatment is usually planned for the months with least sun exposure, and autumn is the most common time to start. If you are planning to be out in the sun, tell us: it may be better to wait or adjust the regimen.
Can I combine it with retinol or acids?
It depends on the regimen and on your tolerance. Combining several resurfacing actives at once can irritate the skin and, paradoxically, worsen pigmentation. Ask us before adding products on your own.
How does shipping work?
We prepare orders from our centre in Barcelona. You will find up-to-date delivery times and costs in the shop's shipping policy.
